I first met Gavin as a wee baby at the Santa mini sessions and he was SO chubby and adorable! It was wonderful to see him back, this time for a session focused on him and who he is now, at 8 months. He showed off his crawling skills, explored some new toys and snuggled with mom and dad. These are a few of mom and dad’s favourite images.

At eight months old, Owen brings so much joy to his loving parents and they wanted to be sure to capture this stage when he is just so crazy sweet and adorable. Eight months is such an awesome age to photograph. He was able to sit and play and push himself up, roll around on the ground and babble away… while I was able to simply capture him. And c’mon… he is SO handsome. Those brown curls and big baby blues are just incredible! This is just a tiny taste of the adorable images we created during his session, I can’t wait to show the whole gallery to Mom and Dad!

I first met this sweet duo at their Santa portrait session and Jennifer later contacted me, saying she loved working with me and she really wanted to get some portraits of them together. Jennifer is just loving this stage they are in now and she really wanted to spend some time with me to document their special moments together. There was plenty of snuggling and smiling and nursing breaks and rocking babe to sleep. Jennifer fell in love with the images we created together, as did I. I think the bond between a mother and her child is so beautiful!

This beautiful girl came into my Niagara, ON studio to capture this sweet time in her little life. As the baby of the family, it was especially obvious how fast she was growing and how quickly time was flying by. She was growing up into a very independent little girl and before all traces of babyhood disappeared, her mom wanted to make sure they were forever recorded. Those special things that make her so uniquely sweet and perfect and funny. The rolls, that tanned skin, those wispy baby curls and her love for all stuffed bunnies. I loved having this time with her and knowing that she will have these images to look back on someday as well.

This time of year I am always, always swamped with work. Just as the accountant has the tax deadlines looming, so photographers have Christmas and all the images that need to be delivered before then. So work is busy, plus there’s just life with 5 kids, add to that 17 birthdays in our immediate related family in August, back to school in September, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc. This year we added moving to that list of just busy-ness. Seriously, I end up SO behind on personal photographs.

But I made myself a promise a long time ago that I would always do my absolute best to keep up with my kids birthday dates. Our special, much anticipated date where I get to photograph them one on one and then take them out for a Timmies treat. They help me stick to that promise by harassing me constantly, asking when we are going on said date. I don’t always get to editing them quickly, sometimes it takes months, but I want to blog them every year with a note from me to them on what they are like at this age. I don’t journal, never kept baby books, my memories are all locked up in images. Images that bring back floods of memories that I cherish so much.

This year, Eden turned 8. She is just the most beautiful girl, I wish she could see herself through my eyes. She’s not concerned with her looks at all but she doesn’t have a ton of confidence. Sometimes I wonder if that’s because her vision wasn’t always great and we didn’t know. She is always looking to hold my hand, nervous and uncertain in new situations. She is the most loving of our children, full of affection for all of us. Hugs and snuggles and special cards and presents abound. She is thoughtful and kind, incredibly smart and an avid reader. She has a pure heart, innocent and sweet. She also possesses a joy that I just don’t see in many people. It shines from her eyes, it overflows from her heart through to her body. She simply cannot be excited without jumping up and down and giggling. It’s the most beautiful thing to see. Eden, you are God’s special princess. I pray that you may always know His love and that you lean on Him all your life. Love, Mumma

I adore photographing babies of all ages… they are always at some wonderful new stage, full of exciting new discoveries and achievements. Quite often professional photography is only left to the big, obvious milestones- maternity, newborn, six months or a year. But then there seems to be a big gap after that… where babies are rarely professionally photographed on his(her) own again until they get to school portraits. For me though, it’s this simple session that highlights so many wonderful things that I just adore about my sweet son at 18 months. He is always full of smiles and he loves to drive wooden cars around, making his own little noises as he does so… and it just melts this mumma’s heart! I’m so glad I’ll have these images to look back on when he’s older, to relive this fleeting time when he was still my baby.
