Elena | Full of Life {Niagara Maternity Portraits}

So to continue from this post, here are some images of our second model Elena. Now Elena literally had a 7 lb, 10 oz baby hidden in that TINY baby bump. When we photographed her, she was about 37 weeks if my memory serves me right. I couldn’t get over it! We had to do everything we could to get that bump to show! I wish I got pregnant the way Ashley and Elena do! Wow! Welcome to the world Brett Anthony Stephen!

The photography industry has been a good place for me- full of kind and welcoming people. I’ve learned a lot from other photographers who have been willing to share and learn together with me. In my journey thus far, I have been free of the drama that can occasionally crop up and have instead been fortunate enough to build some great relationships. Two of those are with Melissa VanLeeuwen and Emily Krbec. We met a few years ago on a long weekend get together in Toronto during a shootout. It was fun and we stayed in touch thanks to Facebook and E-mail. Since then we have collaborated on two occasions-a day where we focused on building our skills and portfolio with children and another where we worked on sharing our knowledge and again, building our portfolio, with a beautiful newborn. This time we decided to spend our day photographing maternity clients, as well as working on shooting in full sun.

The location was a lavender field in London, on a hot, hot day where the dirt burned your feet and the wind swept dust through the air. It certainly presented its challenges, but we were able to capture some gorgeous images of the models within the allotted two hours. The rest of the day we did what we do best- chatted, ate and chatted some more :) I always LOVE getting together and talking photography!

So here is our first model, Ashley. She is a talented photographer from the London area, and it was so fun to have her there as a model as she really knew how to be in front of the camera. I believe she was due in only 2(?) weeks at our session. Doesn’t she look INCREDIBLE?! They have since welcomed a sweet little girl to their family, Ella Ruby…congrats guys!

Me & Mine | 9/13 {Niagara Newborn Photographer}

Thursday, August 16th, 2012

Woot! Only VERY last minute but I managed to get pics of me and all my babies for this month’s Me & Mine post! I am ever so thankful for this challenge, and the girls who are helping to hold me accountable to it. With my crazy busy life, the last thing I would have done this month is take a second to think about getting a shot with my kiddos. We went to African Lion Safari, and forgot…which would have been the easiest way to get in a nice shot. Instead, I set up my tripod and background in my studio this afternoon, slapped on some makeup and took my sweaty, dirty, mussed-hair children inside for some quick shots with Mumma and baby. In total, including the shots taken for setup, I got only 18 frames- but that’s all I needed. It turns out, lollipops work as VERY good bribery and doing only one child at a time is a LOT easier than trying to get a group shot, especially when you’re on a timer. All in all, I’m reasonably happy with these and I think my kiddos look perfectly adorable, even if I look overly…cheesy :)

Go around the circle and check out Misty Setzler’s take on our challenge this month!
