A Chinese Tea Ceremony {Niagara Wedding Photography}

Friday, January 13th, 2012

Back in October I had the opportunity to second shoot again for my friend Cindy of Absolute Photography. I’m just now getting around to editing some of these images thanks to a very busy and blessed season with my own clients! Will and Wendy incorporated a Chinese tea ceremony into their wedding day to honor Wendy’s heritage. It was really neat for me to see their cultural traditions and learn more about them in the process. Wendy’s mom and aunt told me how brides used to wear 7 different dresses on their wedding day- and how the bargaining for the wife was a very serious tradition which has become more and more fun through the generations. And Wendy’s brother and bridesmaid made SURE that the bargaining process was fun! Will arrived with his groomsmen at the home and stood on the cold wet front porch, answering question after question about Wendy and her family. He knew a lot of the answers and I was impressed- but they were not. They joked that Will didn’t know enough and he didn’t value her enough. Will could see he was losing so he attempted to bribe them with chocolate, but when even that didn’t work- they all broke out in song…it was so off-tune but it did the trick. Will paid his money for his bride and was accepted into the home to see his bride for the first time and take part in the tea ceremony.

I recently had the opportunity to combine two commercial shoots into one- a few bridal hairpieces from the wonderful Yazbeth of Bloom by Arissia and makeup done by Misti of Makeup by Misti. They both needed some images of their work for their websites, so we shot in my studio and had a blast! Chantal and Rachel are both first time mommies and they look so gorgeous! I really wanted Misti to work her magic on me as well! However, with our 5 little kids running around, I was in charge of them while not photographing these beautiful girls. I hope you enjoyed getting a little taste of the shoot!

p.s. you may have seen one or two of these if you’re a fan on FB. If not- what’s stopping you? There’s always Sneak Peeks and fun convos over there, so check it out! I noticed there were 777 fans today— definitely a good number! But I’d love to see you there as well!

Dave & Tamsynn | Together for Life {Fonthill Wedding Photographer}

Monday, September 5th, 2011

I don’t believe I have ever seen a girl quite so excited for her wedding day as Tamsynn! A daily FB update with a countdown to her wedding day and lots of hearts and sappy posts about her man- so cute! These are two sweet, adorable, and head-over-heels in love kids. Steff and I had so much fun with them on their big day, it was actually HARD for us to leave at the end of a 13 hour day. Their DJ had everyone on the dance floor and if we weren’t wiped, we would have joined them!

Dave and Tamsynn had their wedding reception at the fabulous Club Capistropignano- it’s such a beautiful and elegant hall! We took this portrait of them out in back of the hall and then went it for their first dance, which was so emotional and sweet!
